The Canadian Seal Hunt is about to begin YET again. I have been working with IFAW to promote awareness for this which is a very serious issue to me. As part of the 2009 campaign IFAW (International Federation Of Animal Welfare) have created a video to my song ‘Hunt Of The Innocent’ from the album Sovereign to help promote a worldwide ban on the seal trade.
PLEASE watch the video (warning - graphic scenes) and let it incense you the way it does me and inspire you to get involved in any way you can. For a mere 99 cents or 79 pence you can help out. Hello hello,

Well that was fun! All the remixes are in and myself and the label have made our decisions. We have two great winners. We have one remix that is big and aggressive and another that is more chilled which is exactly what i was hoping for. It was tough and there were lots of creative entries but ultimately it had to be something I really liked and related to personally. There are also 4 runners up whose mixes we also really liked and wanted to showcase so if you’d like to take a listen click below

The SPARKLE  EP will be the last offering from the Sovereign album as I will be starting to record album number two early in February. This EP will be released Feb 16/09 and will include the 2 winning mixes from crashtv and AVOaW, the new 2009 single mix and another commissioned remix from The Echoing Green. Clips of all of  mixes for the final EP can be heard here on this site on the main music page.

Another Seal Hunt is Looming…..Please help It’s coming up to that time again when plans are underway for the next brutal Canadian Seal Hunt. Wherever you are in the world you can make a difference!
Those of you who have purchased or listened to my album Sovereign you will know the song -Hunt Of The Innocent which is dedicated to the plight of these beautiful creatures. This is an issue i feel VERY strongly about… see below…

In March and April this year, over 200,000 harp seal pups were beaten and shot to death for their fur. The Canadian government would have allowed tens of thousands more seal pups to be killed; but thanks to high gasoline prices, deadly sealing boat accidents, the threat of an EU import ban, and perhaps concern over the Canadian seafood boycott as well, many sealers stayed home this year.
In March, the European Union is expected to take the next steps toward banning all seal product imports. This would affect EU nations as well as non-EU importers that need to transport pelts across EU national borders. This would be so significant that the Canadian government is expending great time, money, and effort in fighting the ban.

Now, the Canadian government is preparing for another killing spree. The new Fisheries Minister, Gail Shea, seems to be following in her predecessor’s footsteps, supporting the seal slaughter without any compunction.

Sparkle will be the final single from the album to be released as an EP in February digitally -worldwide. The EP will consist of the original, a radio edit with beats, a b-side and either 1 or 2 remixes to be decided (one by the winner and one other we may commission)
We are looking for someone to do an excellent alternate remix for the track -NOT a club mix but something more interesting/alternative but ideally with beats also.Anything goes as long as it is not club/trance etc..
Please understand this is just for exposure, there won’t be a fee for this.
If interested please mail to info@blackwingrecords.com and mention Sparkle remix comp in the subject line and the label will send you the parts.
The deadline for the remixes will be Monday Dec 15/2008.Mixes can be sent as a 320 mp3 or via a yousendit link to the same email. No information or results will be given until after the deadline and all the mixes are in.

It’s been a long wait but “SOVEREIGN” is finally out. Please visit BLACKWING RECORDS SHOP to purchase CD’s or for  links to buy digitally. Orders from the Blackwing site can be made worldwide as there are no plans just yet for the album to be released overseas. The album will be available in the U.K.and European shops within 3-4 weeks.If you want it to be stocked at your local retailer within the UK and Europe please let them know.
